Mon 5/28: happy memorial day! Woke up and did some TRX. Then hit the trails for about 11 miles (1 hour 15 min) of mountain
biking! Part of that was getting to
where I was being picked up. This was a
lot more legit mountain biking, not just the kiddie trails I hit the last
time. The actual trail riding part was
about 4.5 miles. I had some good
coaching and started getting more comfortable, but by no means am I an expert. There were logs, tons of roots, and rocks
everywhere. One random downhill for some
reason I braked too much, lost my momentum, hit a rock, and my front wheel turned throwing me halfway
over my handlebars and face into the dirt haha. I was downhill, so my bike kind
of followed me. Chain marks on my arms,
legs…bruises ALL OVER. Legit battle
wounds. I was ok…finished out the ride
and hit up the sushi place. Mountain
biking is no joke…but so much fun!!! The fells really gives you some tough
riding that’s for sure. I will be sore.
And there was blood too, yes. Get ready for some pictures of my legs. You kind of like it...
Few days post fall. Nice coloring!
Current look. It's getting uglier. Right leg looks like its healing quicker
Tues 5/29: I woke up
feeling ridiculously sore…kind of similar to being hit by a car. Haha.
Everything looked worse than the day before.
I awkwardly went to work, then I was going to run. Then I was going to bike instead. What did I really end up doing? I went to Boston Beer Works. Story end.
Wed 5/30: 70 min
interval bike (about 17 miles), 2.5 mile run (20 min). Recovery time is over. Needed to get the
stiff body back into gear. The trainer
wasn’t bad. The run was weird. Everytime I came down I felt every bruise,
but I guess that’s what I get when I have one the size of my face. Oddly enough, I ended up running faster than
normal. And my HR wasn’t very high. Win kind of?
Thursday 5/24: Felt a lot better today…just don’t poke or
punch me anywhere my bruises are. Did a 6
mile interval run (51 minutes) followed by some TRX. I am really surprised
how great my runs feel after my accident. What the hell? Maybe I put something
into place….or falling is good for me? Im not sure but it’s working for me. Oh,
it was hot out….hello summer.
Friday 5/25: Weather
forecast for the weekend looks pretty bad and today was really nice. So I hit up my friend Sean and we headed out
for a ride to Walden (through newton, Weston, then into concord). Ended up being 39 miles (2 hours 35 min)…but nice and chill. I hadn’t been to
Walden since my road bike accident, so it was nice to be back there. Can’t wait till I jump in for a swim there in
between rides. I had some slight PTSD
of a combo of doors flying open on me then (recently) falling on my face,
especially when riding between parked cars and moving ones. I eventually got over it, but just muttered
to myself don’t open the damn door please.
All was good…great ride.
One of my favorite post workout meals...burrito bowl and beer! yeah that's gansett :)
Saturday 5/26: 6.4 mile run (55 min), TRX. The weather
wasn’t joking. It was a DOWNPOUR! I was supposed to do my first tri in about a
year (sprint). Turns out I lost my ride
and renting a zip car would cost more than the race. Plus the weather….I decided to bail it
out. I’d rather spend the money elsewhere. So, I went running in the pouring rain. It was a blast….i was drenched. I cut the run
a little shorter bc I thought my phone might get too wet in my jacket
pocket. It looked like I dove in the
water pretty much.
Sunday 5/27: had a tad too much fun catching up with friends
the day before, so woke up hungover. Felt crappy for a bit, then snapped out of
it for a 65 min bike (about 15 miles),
3.1 mile run (25 min) and TRX. It
didn’t feel bad at all actually. The run
was weird because my first mile was about 9 min, then my last was 7:30. I got into it a little plus I was listening
to crazy music. Solid week…considering
my fall and all.
Weekly TOTALS: no swimming, 82 mile bike (6 hours 5 min), 18 mile run (2 hours 31 min), TRX x4
And here's a funny picture for shits....this is what happens on a friday night when you discover google + hangout.
