Week 9

Thus far I feel like I’ve had great weeks…every week somehow. Think I finally had my not so good week. Not saying I injured myself or anything…but just a bit of a rough one.  A few good workouts managed to sneak in ;) The latter of the week was good, beginning not so much.  I’ve begun to realize that this is going to be a typical scenario....  Want to go out tonight? Sure, but only for a little bit because I have to get up to run/bike.  What are you doing this weekend? Any big plans?  No…just swimming, running, and biking. Haha. Rock on.

Mon 6/25:  OFF. Honestly, I felt really crappy. Sun burn kept me up…didn’t sleep…poor hydration during that ride the day before.  Completely wiped out.  Lesson learned.

Tues 6/26:  3 mile run (26 min). This was my last day at BMC!!! So, the plan was to do my planned workout in the AM (early…) before work so I could go grab some drinks to celebrate being done and transitioning to my first real full time EVER!  Well, I didn’t sleep well AGAIN.  To be honest, I made another mistake of looking towards week 18-20 and gave myself anxiety then plus my chest hurt from a burn turning raw. Solid….mess.  I woke up to my alarm at 4:45 am, shut it off…jumped back in bed.  I couldn’t fall back asleep so I compromised to doing half my workout…err well just the run portion.

Wed 6/27: TRX.  That’s it…..I didn’t sleep well for the third night in a row and I really felt it at work.  Couldn’t really get myself to do much but some TRX. What’s up with this not sleeping thing?

Thurs 6/28: 7.2 mile run (1 hour 3 min), 60 min bike (15miles). Finally, some sleep. I worked 6am- 2:30, ran, biked, ate, then passed out hard probably around 9pm.  This doesn’t feel like much of a recovery week.

Friday 6/29:  I got a massage. Yeah…suck it training plan I wanted to.

Saturday 6/30:  7.7 mile run (1 hour 10 min), 20 mile bike (1 hour 40 min…mountain bike), TRX.  I went out in Central square the night before and caught myself saying…oh you can stay out you only have to do a 60-80 min run. Haha, what? I’m to the point where this is nothing…and it feels weird. Word.
This run was interesting….I’ve really grown to love to run since moving to Boston (I used to hate it).  I like it because sometimes you can clear your head, think of nothing.  Sometimes, you can just think of everything.  Scott Weltz (a former teammate at UC DAVIS swimming) won Olympic trials in the 200 breastroke and is going to London now to represent the US.  This is just incredibly inspiring…especially what the UC Davis men’s team has been through. So basically, this inspiration made me think a ton….I’m not going to bore everyone all my random thoughts but basically I’m gonna work hard to kick some major ass this year and next (Xterra races, boston marathon, and doing Olympic/sprint tris).
Road to Cutler Park for some mountain biking fun.  I didn’t fall off my bike. Win for all. I could only get one of my new platforms on....so I looked weird i am sure.

Cool new platforms.

Charles River along Cutler park.  I found this nice little spot while riding my mtn bike through trails. Chilled for a bit here...love finding new spots!

Sunday 7/1: 40 mile bike (2 hours 40 min), 2 mile run (17 min).  The bike felt good...leisurely. Never thought I'd be saying I am going on an "easy 40 miler". Plus most of the ride is shaded, which in the heat Boston has been having is quite a relief.  I had so much shade that by the time I went on my run I didn't realize that is was 90 degrees.  I died on my run pretty much...good thing it was short!

Hung out with Greg Dor and saw Dustin for a bit.  Shout out to my Citysports boys...you guys are the best :)

On my weekend workouts, I find myself blasting music right before my run or bike...and busting some moves. It gets me pumped, especially if I am out by myself.  Hah.
Typical look. Trying to get excited about dying in the heat.

Weekly TOTALS:
19.9 mile run (3 hours 6 min), 75 mile bike (5 hours 25 min), TRX x2

Ok. so guess what? I joined Cambridge Masters swim club. I HAVE TO SWIM. My first practice will be bright and early on July 4th :) can't wait to meet some new people and get back into ok swimmingly shape.
